Grand Egyptian Museum Opens to the Public – July 3 2025
The opening event is organized by the United Media Services Company in collaboration with Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly is leading the Supreme Committee overseeing the ceremony.
GEM will showcase over 100,000 ancient artifacts, including the complete collection of King Tutankhamun’s treasures. These exhibits will offer visitors a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view Egypt’s glorious past in one place.

Location and Admission
The museum is located in Giza, Greater Cairo, near the famous Giza Pyramids. It sits at 29.9883° N, 31.1342° E, offering a breathtaking view of one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
Organizers of the Grand Egyptian Museum Opening
The Egyptian government owns the museum, with significant contributions from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The project’s design was handled by Heneghan Peng Architects, an Irish firm, while the construction was completed by the Orascom Construction and BESIX Group.
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities oversees the museum’s management. Gihane Zaki, appointed as the head of GEM in 2024, continues to lead the institution as it prepares to open its doors.
